WHY DID WE CREATE THE ‘UNWRAPPING CHRISTMAS’ BOOKLET?
Following multiple requests for simple, friendly Christmas resources this booklet addresses some interesting concerns that are sometimes raised about the pagan influence behind our Christmas and Easter traditions, to clarify what is true while also addressing misconceptions.
It also seeks to expand our understanding of the purpose of Christmas to us all as a cultural festival – noting our cultural festivals with public holidays each exist to remind us of something that is significant to who we are.
(Beyond the immediate story of Jesus, as cultural festivals Christmas and Easter exist to remind us of the history that explain where our most treasured cultural values like equality, human value / personal freedom and charity came from.)
