“The Christian Church is no longer in the majority. The question is how we might become an effectively activated minority?”

(From ‘In One Spirit’, by Dave Mann, published May 2019)

Unity Tour 2021:

WHAT? God-willing, travel to connect with

1. Pastors’ group meetings to discuss unity things

Pastors’ groups in 50 or more cities and towns nationally to feed a conversation about the potential and function of our unity

2. Gatherings of youth leaders in each place

…for the same reason. See the four objectives near the top of the homepage at Godtalk.nz. Our goal is not to draw them to ourselves – but to each other. We believe this will be catalytic for many groups of youth leaders, delivering new results for you in the years to come!

3. Saturday morning mini-conferences (one per province)

We would likely then offer a Saturday morning mini-conference (3 hours. 4 topics + Q&A) to enable strategic input related to outreach in relation to unity, conversation, cultural change, youth, small groups, democracy and more.

4. Province-wide combined Church evening service

We then offer this idea – to which Dave could bring a proactive yet inspiring and practical message on the topic of ‘the potential of our unity’.

The question here is whether the spirit and idea of this combined service resonates with pastors’ groups in that province. There are no obligations. We believe our role is to encourage and catalyse new thinking, to enable new things. Stated bluntly – our role is not to control. We are not attempting even to lead. We encourage. It is you who are responsible before God for the unity and work of God’s Church that you are leaders in in your city or town!

  • The question is whether what we bring might be timely, and help something fundamental.

THE KAUPAPA: To facilitate a genuinely nation-wide conversation purposed see a united church engaging more wisely and strategically in its mission in this fast-changing and increasingly challenging cultural environment.

DATES AND PLACES: Starting mid-April in the South Island, working northward, concluding in Northland late August/early September.

  • Dates will be below on this webpage.
  • Generally it is one week per province (except one week for Otago/Southland and also Hawkes Bay/Gisborne. 2 weeks for Waikato, and 2 weeks for Auckland).

POSSIBLE TOPICS TO SELECT FROM FOR THE MINI CONFERENCES

Dave hopes to be graced to bring forward-looking, timely messages for God’s Church together across the nation, related to the topic areas of

  • Church unity, cultural change and the gospel (the suggested topic for combined church Sunday evening services)
  • Conversational skills and the gospel
  • Church small groups and the gospel
  • Youth ministries, unity and the gospel
  • Biculturalism and the gospel
  • The importance of our values history to the gospel
  • Democracy and the gospel
  • (See fuller details on some of these at alltogether.co.nz/speakers)

Others who travel will bring similar input – but in their own areas of speciality.

DISCUSSION VIDEO FOR PASTORS’ GROUPS

“Local Churches Together Enabling National Change”

The video above was created to feed important strategic discussion by city and town pastors’ groups about unity – and the way forward.

  • Please click here to download the accompanying notes page – with strategic discussion questions.
  • There are things we can do together that we cannot do apart. Are we ready?

God wills our unity!

The mandate for city pastors’ groups is surely to do things together that individual churches cannot accomplish alone, and the same limit would apply for any discussion on  what we might work on together as a collective of city/town pastors’ groups also!

A comment from Dave Mann regarding the necessary limit on what our SLT team might bring to a city/town pastors’ group for discussion.
