18 Jan, 2013 The smallest machine – God is easy to find!

Every now and then you read something that blows your mind.

I love the Kinesins, these being the miniature ‘couriers‘ inside our cells that, amuzingly, each have two arms and two legs (yet are actually complex machines).

See: https://creation.com/incredible-kinesin

But today I read of the ATP Synthase – a machine that converts energy into the media needed to fuel all the other machines in a cell that make the cell work – so the parts of the body can work – so the body works – and we live.

This is from Creation.com – at https://creation.com/atp-synthase

Quoting…

Life depends on an incredible enzyme called ATP synthase, the world’s tiniest rotary motor.1 This tiny protein complex makes an energy-rich compound, ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Each of the human body’s 14 trillion cells performs this reaction about a million times per minute. Over half a body weight of ATP is made and consumed every day!

All living things need to make ATP, often called the “energy currency of life”. ATP is a small molecule with a big job: to provide immediately usable energy for cellular machines. ATP-driven protein machines power almost everything that goes on inside living cells, including manufacturing DNA, RNA, and proteins, clean-up of debris, and transporting chemicals into, out of, and within cells.

… the enzyme appears to operate near 100% efficiency …

…This motor is incredibly high-tech design in nano-size. Evolutionary scientists have suggested that the head portion of ATP synthase evolved from a class of proteins used to unwind DNA during DNA replication….

…However, how could ATP synthase “evolve” from something that needs ATP, manufactured by ATP synthase, to function? This bizarre suggestion underlines the role of our beliefs in how we interpret origins.’

My own conclusion:

I cannot see how anyone could feel anything except the utmost in humility when pondering this. The mere suggestion that this is a result of accidental ‘creation’ is ludicrous. As Antony Flew put it, “I have been persuaded that it is simply out of the question that the first living matter evolved out of dead matter and then developed into an extraordinarily complicated creature.” DNA had “shown, by the almost unbelievable complexity of the arrangements which are needed to produce life, that intelligence must have been involved”.

May clear-thinking be restored to our society again, that we might again wonder at all that is created with joy and peace and hope – knowing that it is our loving God who did this, and who offers us and this creation complete redemption, if we would but turn to Hm to ask His forgiveness, believe and follow.

Thank you God for your love – and for making yourself so easy to find in this world!
